Rise of the Planet of the Apes is an upcoming 2011 American science fiction film. The film is directed byRupert Wyatt. It is a reboot of the Planet of the Apes series that will act as a foundation with an origin story for a new film series. Its premise is similar toConquest of the Planet of the Apes, the fourth film in the original series, but it is not a direct remake in that it does not fit into that series' continuity.It is slated for release in the United States and Canada on August 5, 2011
An origin story set in present day San Francisco, where man's own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
